Even cheaper (never used electric heating in a decade) buy a tin of "chafing" gel (used by chefs and restaurants to keep food hot) light it and put a clay plant pot over it. The heavier the pot then the more heat it stores, and tins are under £1 and lasts 6hrs. Hahaha a million years and we're still sitting around fires.

Wow I moved to a small home after living in a huge house with a stone fireplace, which I had burning all the time. I spent ten years without my beloved fires until I found your gel fireplace.>>>ur2.pl/913  It is everything I hoped it would be and more. Fits perfectly in my living room, we even built a granite hearth for it to sit on. It is absolutely gorgeous and has completely transformed my home. We keep it burning all the time and I wouldn't live without it. My mom bought it for me as a belated housewarming gift and I tell her everyday it is the most wonderful gift I've ever received! Thank you so much. ( and it does heat the room beautifully!!!)

I'm trying to conceive of an alcohol burner for heating my van in winter (van camping), where the bioethanol burns in a "furnace" located on top and outside of my van (no venting of van required from alcohol combustion byproducts), with a sealed metal coil running through the furnace to heat the air in the coil, to recirculate hot air through the van (air in the coil moved by a USB fan). The design issues include continuous feed of the alcohol, insulation of the "furnace" outside the coil, and so on. Is this sensible?

This is a great video! Thank you. My only concern with this fire is the effect of the flames at the top of the underside of the unit itself. Does it not mark it? Also, I've heard of some people using a ceramic sponge which makes the flame burn more slowly. The cost of running one is the only thing that puts me off. They are beautiful though.

Just wanted to say that your vid was exactly what we were looking for to decide whether we want one of these for our holiday home – really helpful explanation, just as good as going to a shop, better in fact as you are not trying to sell it!

I have been looking for an alternative heating source for when my electricity goes out due to storms. Everything I've read says bio ethanol does not produce much heat. Are you able to heat your house with this?

B&Q sell 2 litres of Bioe Ethanol fuel for £5.00 (so works out at £2.50 per litre). Also have some stylish fires from £79 – £99 (sometimes cheaper when of offer).
